Dans la perspective de sa participation au Congr\u00e8s international du CISH \u00e0 Poznan en 2020, l\u2019Association internationale d\u2019histoire contemporaine de l\u2019Europe (AIHCE) organise trois colloques sur la th\u00e9matique \u00ab\u00a0L\u2019Europe au XXe si\u00e8cle \u2013 Une Europe asym\u00e9trique\u00a0\u00bb.
\nL\u2019histoire europ\u00e9enne du XXe si\u00e8cle a \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9e par une alternance entre des projets europ\u00e9ens communs et une remise en question de ces projets, la plupart du temps v\u00e9h\u00e9mente, par des visions diff\u00e9rentes. Pour reprendre une expression utilis\u00e9e par un pr\u00e9sident am\u00e9ricain, les vicissitudes de l\u2019histoire du continent europ\u00e9en ont conduit \u00e0 une diff\u00e9rence sensible entre la \u00ab\u00a0vieille Europe\u00a0\u00bb et celle qui prend corps au lendemain de la Premi\u00e8re Guerre mondiale, d\u00e9nomm\u00e9e selon les usages \u00ab\u00a0Europe centrale\u00a0\u00bb pour les uns, \u00ab\u00a0orientale\u00a0\u00bb pour les autres, voire parfois \u00ab\u00a0 \u00ab\u00a0centre-est\u00a0\u00bb ou encore \u00ab\u00a0 \u00ab\u00a0danubienne\u00a0\u00bb. Les divergences entre ces \u00ab\u00a0deux Europe\u00a0\u00bb, comme le relevait d\u00e9j\u00e0 Francis Delaisi dans l\u2019entre-deux-guerres, sont criantes et s\u2019expriment tout au long du XX\u00b0 si\u00e8cle. Elles sont \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153uvre dans le syst\u00e8me de Versailles, comme \u00e0 travers le projet hitl\u00e9rien pour l\u2019Europe. Elles sont toujours pr\u00e9sentes pendant la guerre froide.<\/p>\n

Les colloques qui s\u2019\u00e9chelonneront jusqu\u2019au congr\u00e8s du CISH ont vocation \u00e0 explorer cette asym\u00e9trie. A-t-elle influenc\u00e9 les interpr\u00e9tations de l\u2019histoire europ\u00e9enne\u00a0? Pr\u00e9sent\u00e8rent-elles l\u2019Europe comme un ensemble homog\u00e8ne\u00a0? Ou comme un ensemble diff\u00e9renci\u00e9\u00a0? Quelle interpr\u00e9tation a davantage cours dans l\u2019Ouest europ\u00e9en\u00a0? Dans l\u2019Est\u00a0? Il s\u2019agit ainsi de croiser les regards des historiographies, d\u2019analyser les approches diff\u00e9rentes de ces diff\u00e9rents courants.<\/p>\n

Un premier colloque se d\u00e9roulera \u00e0 cette fin \u00e0 Moscou, du 6 au 8 d\u00e9cembre 2018.
\nIl sera centr\u00e9 sur \u00ab\u00a0Les id\u00e9ologies pendant la Deuxi\u00e8me Guerre mondiale\u00a0\u00bb.
\n<\/u><\/strong>Ce colloque s\u2019organise autour de quelques probl\u00e9matiques. Il s\u2019int\u00e9resse d\u2019abord au projet hitl\u00e9rien pour l\u2019Europe. Les projets nationaux-socialistes sont diff\u00e9rents pour l\u2019Ouest et l\u2019Est de l\u2019Europe. Leur application sur les diff\u00e9rents espaces europ\u00e9ens met en valeur cette vision diff\u00e9renci\u00e9e de l\u2019Europe. L\u2019int\u00e9gration dans cette Europe nazie est \u00e9galement diversifi\u00e9e (ici incorporation, l\u00e0 occupation ou satellisation). De nombreux travaux existent sur ces aspects. Nous entendons dans le cadre de ce colloque privil\u00e9gier l\u2019approche comparative, qui est souvent fructueuse pour l\u2019historiographie si on confronte les narrations, les interpr\u00e9tations. Les situations diff\u00e9rentes v\u00e9cues tant \u00e0 l\u2019Est qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019Ouest offrent ici de vastes perspectives.
\nMais il est \u00e9galement important de s\u2019interroger sur les projets europ\u00e9ens des Alli\u00e9s, des gouvernements en exil ou des mouvements de r\u00e9sistance. L\u00e0 \u00e9galement, des asym\u00e9tries existent et les contextes diversifi\u00e9s conduisent tant\u00f4t \u00e0 des projets d\u2019ensemble, tant\u00f4t \u00e0 des projets infrar\u00e9gionaux d\u2019organisation de l\u2019Europe.<\/p>\n

Elles comporteront le titre de la communication, un r\u00e9sum\u00e9 de la probl\u00e9matique trait\u00e9e sur 3500 signes maximum. Elles seront accompagn\u00e9es d\u2019un court CV pr\u00e9sentant la carri\u00e8re, les fonctions actuelles et la bibliographie de l\u2019auteur(e) de la proposition. Les propositions seront r\u00e9dig\u00e9es soit en anglais, soit en fran\u00e7ais. <\/strong>Le comit\u00e9 scientifique du colloque signifiera pour la fin du mois de juin 2018 l\u2019acceptation ou le refus de la proposition.<\/p>\n

Un second colloque s\u2019int\u00e9resse \u00e0 l\u2019asym\u00e9trie du syst\u00e8me de Versailles. Il se tiendra \u00e0 Paris, au Centre Scientifique de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie Polonaise des Sciences les 20-22 juin 2019. Un appel \u00e0 communication sera diffus\u00e9 \u00e0 son propos dans des d\u00e9lais rapproch\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Europe in the 20th century \u2013 An Asymmetric Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n

For its forthcoming participation in the International Congress of Historical Sciences in Poznan, Poland in 2020, the International Association for the Study of Contemporary Europe is organising three conferences on the theme\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Europe in the 20th century \u2013 An Asymmetric Europe\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

European history of the twentieth century has been characterised by an alternation between common European projects and a questioning of such projects, often vehemently, through alternative visions. To borrow an expression from an American president, the vicissitudes of the European continent\u2019s history have led to a significant difference between the \u00ab\u00a0Old Europe\u00a0\u00bb and that which took shape at the end of the First World War, referred to either as \u00ab\u00a0Central Europe\u00a0\u00bb for some, \u00ab\u00a0Eastern Europe\u00a0\u00bb for others, even sometimes \u00ab\u00a0East-Central\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0Danubian\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0 Europe. The divergences between these \u00ab\u00a0two Europes\u00a0\u00bb, as Francis Delaisi first pointed out in the inter-war years, are striking and manifest themselves throughout the twentieth century. They are present in the Versailles system, and throughout the Hitlerian project for Europe. They are still present during the Cold War.<\/p>\n

The conferences that will take place leading up to the 2020 International Congress of Historical Sciences intend to explore this asymmetry. Have these projects influenced interpretations of European history\u00a0? Did they present Europe as a homogeneous entity? Or as a differentiated entity? Which interpretation is most current in Western Europe\u00a0? And Eastern Europe\u00a0? The idea will be to cross-compare these different currents.<\/p>\n

The first conference on this theme will take place in Moscow from 6-8 December 2018. It will be focussed on\u00a0:\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0Ideologies during the Second World War\u00bb. <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

This conference is organised around several questions. First it is interested in the Hitlerian project for Europe. National-socialist plans were different for West and East Europe. Their application in different European spaces demonstrates this differentiated vision of Europe. Integration in a Nazi Europe was equally variegated (incorporation here, occupation there or satellitisation). Several works exist on these aspects. In the context of this conference we wish to favour a comparative approach, which is often fruitful for historiography if one confronts narratives and interpretations. The different experiences in the East and West offer a wide variety of perspectives.<\/p>\n

But it is equally important to question the European projects of the Allies, of governments in exile or resistance movements. There too asymmetry exists and the different contexts lead either to uniform projects or infra-regional projects for the organisation of Europe.<\/p>\n

Proposals should include the title of the paper, a summary of the argument in a maximun of 3500 characters. It should be accompanied by a short cv giving career, present occupation and a list of the author\u2019s publications. Proposals should be written in either French or English. <\/strong>The selection panel will notify applicants of their success or failure by the end of June 2018.
\nA second conference will look at the asymmetry of the Versailles system. It will take place in Paris at the Scientific Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences from 20-22 June 2019. A call for papers will go out nearer the date.<\/p>\n
